la da da da life goes on...

We've added another member to our circus... His name is "Tattletale"... I confess he get's no attention from me.

Ask E, it takes a bit more to get mom's attention these days, even resorting to stunts.

When that didn't work as well as they liked they even conspired to contract the Chicken Pox. ;)

(Poor guys, they've been troopers, very itchy little troopers.)

To remedy the attention deficit the boys are experiencing with a new brother, I've prescribed Baking/Cooking together. The kitchen is usually in ruins afterward, but the boys get some intentional Mom time. And it's good for me to remember that it's the process, not the finish product that's the focus.

I have been pleasantly surprised, the product generally turn out well...
(Mmm... Homemade Cinnamon Rolls)

And those little guys can be quite helpful! They crank the pasta maker for me while I feed the dough through and catch it on the other side.

Outside of the kitchen, The boys have taken the role of big brother seriously.

J offers helpful snuggles when he's fussy, he put him to sleep here.

and both boys like to entertain and keep I-guy happy while I'm busy.
(probably cleaning up the kitchen).

Another thing we've been doing a lot lately is drawings. J loves to draw. Today he brought me this picture and he described what he drew "it's a space shuttle and planets and there's earth"...

Look a little closer... that little bugger actually drew earth! North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Antarctica (and he threw in the North Pole) :)

For the record, yes I know that this is not what earth would actually look like from space, but it is what it looks like on the maps he's seen, what a little smarty pants. Thank you CC. :)

He's Here!!!

Welcome little guy.
(6 weeks old already)

And yes, it's true that since his arrival life has mostly been looking like this...
(yes that "to do" list does have brush teeth, shower, and get boys dressed on it)

But sometimes it looks like this for brief seconds too...

And we are starting to get the hang of it. :)

Around Here...

E's favorite play place, despite mama's best efforts.

J's favorite place to perch. As this picture was taken he was sitting there telling Jackson stories.
Specifically a story about a bear that ate a goat named Jackson.

What I have accomplished while we've been out in the sun.
(I made a cover for the creepy pit that is the crawl space entry and dug an herb garden to the left)

J has started "school". He enjoys doing math! (not my genes)

We also like to do food themed books, who doesn't want to eat while they read?
"The Little White Owl" - jam on toast
"A Visitor for Bear" - cheese and tea
"If You Give a Moose a Muffin" - muffins

Our new additions

J holding "Jordan Storey" named after our friend with red hair.

Only 5 weeks and this guy is BIG!

Busy Barnyard!

Grumpy Uncle Jackson isn't as gruff as he seems. Beard trim anyone?

our surprise visitors today... J was so excited that there were "caribou" at our house!

Sunshine and Sand Boxes

As a kid I spent a lot of sunny days in a big sandbox. Four kids mounding tons of sand and then laying faces smashed in the grit, digging until we reached each others fingertips. I'm glad my boys will have memories like that and I'm glad to remember mine while I dig tunnels in the sand with them. :)

They're Here!

Daisy kidded on her due date and brought unexpected triplets (2 bucklings and a doeling) into the world. She was such a champ, willing to let me help her when the need arrived. And she's a wonderful mom, having accepted and nursed them straight off.

Checking out the neighbors...

Snuggling in the sunshine...

And getting a bit rambunctious on the teeter totter...

I promise to return to our usual broadcast subjects soon. :)

Through little eyes...

J has taken a bit of an interest in photography lately. It's pretty adorable to see him walk around, camera swinging from the neck strap, deliberately pointing and shooting as "inspired".
Hope you enjoy seeing the world as he sees it.
Sometimes literally.
